Kelton, a leading global consumer insights and research firm, conducted an Invisalign Teen confidence survey in 2014. They polled 3,577 U.S. teenagers aged 13–17 and 2,118 U.S. mothers of teens ages 13–17. This survey included an oversample of 101 mothers of teens ages 13–17 who wear or have worn Invisalign clear removable aligners.

Yes, your teen will need to wear a retainer after completing Invisalign treatment. This is a standard part of orthodontic care, whether treatment involves conventional metal braces or invisible aligners like Invisalign.
The first three to six months after finishing the aligners, your teen will need to wear retainers for 22 hours a day to hold teeth in place while the surrounding gum and bone adjust to the new tooth positioning. After the initial period, the exact duration and frequency of retainer use can vary. Some patients may need to wear their retainer only at night, while we instruct others to wear it full-time for longer. Our recommendations are always based on your teen’s individual needs.
